Illegal home: CBI gets 5 days’ custody of Jacob

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was granted five days custody of Pastor A. Gideon Jacob, founder of Mose Ministries Home for Children in Tiruchi, by the II Additional Subordinate Judge here on Wednesday.

Mr. Jacob was recently arrested by the CBI in connection with a case registered against him for running an unregistered home for girls.

Gideon, who has been evading arrest for over a year, was arrested on Saturday by the CBI on charges of keeping 89 girls in an unregistered home and trafficking them for two decades under the cover of saving them from female infanticide. Jacob was on the run after the CBI registered a case against him in 2016.

Mose Ministries first came into limelight in 2015 when two interns from NGO Change India were visiting unregistered children’s home to collect evidence for a High Court petition on illegal children’s homes.
