500 year old historical Shiva temple in West Bengal allegedly demolished by government

Kolkata: According to a video which is making rounds on the Internet since several days, a 500 year old Shiva temple in West Midnapore district of West Bengal has been demolished by the state Government of Mamata Banerjee.

The 500 year old historical temple was allegedly demolished by the West Bengal Government to build a new road at Chandrakana area of West Midnapore. However very surprisingly this action of the administration faced no opposition from local Hindu community. Many have asked, whether it was necessary to demolish the temple to build new road.

Many have also wondered, whether the administration had acted similarly if there was religious site of some other religion at the spot. Criticizing the alleged action of administration, former BJP leader and Right Wing activist Krishanu Mitra made a tweet asking, “Authorities demolished a century old Hindu temple at Chandrakona WB, paving the way for developmental work. No Hindu opposed. Can we expect same courtesy from other religions communities in similar situations?”

Responding to the tweet of Krishanu the governor of Tripura, Tathagata Roy raised questions about the Mosque which has been blocking expansion of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport at Kolkata from more than three decades. “Such as in the case of the Mosque INSIDE Kolkata NSCBI Airport?” he asked.

Other people on Twitter also reacted strongly to the alleged action of Mamata Banerjee led government.

Note:- Satyavijayi has not verified the news. But the video certainly seems to be of West Bengal as the temple seen in the video was built in traditional temple architecture of Bengal.
