In a recent interview to the Outlook, BJP leader Vinay Katiyar has said that now after Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura are on his radar. When asked about the slogan of the Sangh parivar in 90s which said, Ayodhya to jhanki hai, Kashi-Mathura baaki hai” (Ayodhya is just a glimpse, Kashi-Mathura are left), and whether they still hold on to it, Katiyar responded in positive.
“Temple building at Kashi and Mathura is very much on our agenda. We will sit and discuss the ways to achieve our goal. It is not an easy task and is going to take time,” he said.
It may be noted that apart from Ayodhya, Sangh Parivar had claimed that mosques were built upon original temples in Kashi and Mathura as well and sought to reclaim those.
When asked on the fact that many a VHP and BJP leaders have distanced themselves from temple claims in Kashi and Mathura, Katiyar apperantly hinted that he is willing to proceed on movements regarding these two places on a personal capacity. “Now that Ayodhya is accomplished, the other two temples are on my radar now,” he said.
“We are ready to die for the cause. More people will come forward to take the place of the dead,” Katiyar further added, stressing that he is in no mood to compromise on Kashi and Mathura either.
Vinay Katiyar is the founder of the Bajrang Dal, the youth wing of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), which played a key role in the Ram Janmabhoomi movement.
