Al-Quaeda commander Zakir Musa spotted in Punjab, perhaps planning to target Delhi

An intelligence input has put the Punjab police on high alert, after Al-Quaeda commander and one of the most wanted terrorist, Zakir Musa was spotted in the state, earlier today (November 16th). Reportedly, Musa who is accompanied with 6-7 terrorists, is moving towards Delhi from Punjab. Earlier this month, there were reports of him being spotted at Jammu and Kashmir’s pulwama.

The police have been alerted about the terrorists from the Kashmir-based group. As per reports, the terrorists plan to attack Delhi. 

The directions from DGP Punjab have asked the Punjab Police to mount checkpoints at all “important points and routes while they must also conduct strict vehicular checking. “Take suitable counter-measures for all sensitive locations in your area,” the police circular said.

The Al-Quaeda commander is perhaps planning an attack on the national capital, in-collaboration with Jaish-e-Mohammad and other Kashmir based terrorist outfits. A second line of defense will be set up along the LoC, for better co-ordination between the BSF and various police establishments. The DGP has also asked the police to take precautionary measures in their respective jurisdictions to avoid any untoward incident. 

“At least six to seven terrorists are reportedly in Punjab (possibly Ferozepur area) and planning to move towards Delhi from Punjab side,” a letter issued by the Counter Intelligence Inspector General said earlier.
