Aurangabad corporators fight after two refuse to stand up for Vande Mataram

Again an issue of disrespecting the national anthem appears in a fight broke during the general body meeting of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation after two corporators — one from the AIMIM and other from the Congress — refused to stand up when the national song, Vande Mataram, was played.

Right after that, a ruckus broke out when the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena members raised the issue. Though nobody was injured in the fight, a few microphones were damaged. This has not been the first case of disrespecting the national anthem by Congress and AIMIM party members. In many incidents is seen that Congress and AIMIM party leaders openly talk about how they should be allowed to have a choice of not standing during the national anthem and national song.

Imtiyaz Jail, MIM MLA from the city, confirmed that one of his party corporators erred in dishonoring the national song. Jail told The New Indian Express, “I condemn the incident and we shall initiate an inquiry on party level to find out the truth.”

However, he added that according to his party corporators, the incident at the meeting on Saturday was a deliberate plot by the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena to avoid debate over crucial issues related to the development of the city.
