In what could be regarded as a major diplomatic victory of centre’s Modi government, the United Nations has designated Jaish-e-mohammed Chief Maulana Masood Azhar as a global terrorist. The move came after China dropped its objection to the designation of Masood as a global terrorist.
“Azhar is expected to be listed this evening by the UNSC sanctions committee,” The Express Tribune quoted a senior official as saying.

Pakistani media reported that the government of Pakistan has also confirmed that the JeM chief will be designated as a global terrorist under the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolution 1267.
The Pakistani media report said China dropped its objections after holding consultations with Pakistan. Pakistan too agreed to the move, the report added.
