BJP ‘Selfishly’ Politicising Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Name for Electoral Gains in 2019 Polls, Says His Niece

Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s niece and Congress leader Karuna Shukla has alleged that the Chhattisgarh government is playing politics over the death of the former prime minister. She alleged that Chief Minister Raman Singh never took Vajpayee’s name in the last ten years but is now using his ashes for political gains.

“The BJP is selfish and doing politics in the name of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Using his name, they are prepping for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls,” said Karuna Shukla in an interview to a channel.

“The BJP is not at all ashamed over politicising the death of Atal Bihari Vajpayee,” said Shukla.

Recently, Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra had announced that Maharashtra government would build a memorial for former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in Mumbai.

And the chief minister of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh, had also announced the renaming of the smart city in a cabinet meeting held on August 21, 2018 in Raipur.
