Former finance minister P Chidambaram has been summoned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in relation with its ongoing investigation in the INX Media case, news agency ANI reported.
The summon came after the former finance minister, on Thursday, had secured interim relief from arrest till July 3 from the Delhi High Court. Delhi High Court judge Justice A K Pathak had asked him to cooperate with the investigating agency.
Mr Chidambaram has been summoned in connection with foreign investment approval in 2007 to INX Media, founded by Peter and Indrani Mukerjea.
Karti was arrested in the case on February 28 and later let off on bail. He is accused of taking money to facilitate Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to INX Media in 2007 when his father was the Finance Minister in the UPA government. The CBI registered a case last year.
The Delhi High Court, on May 31, had given interim protection from arrest to Chidambaram. Justice AK Pathak asked Chidambaram to join questioning and cooperate in the investigation as and when called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
In the INX Media case, the CBI had registered an FIR on May 15 last year against alleged irregularities in the FIPB clearance to INX Media for receiving overseas funds to the tune of Rs 305 crore in 2007 when Chidambaram was finance minister.
Karti Chidambaram said he has just 1 property abroad & 1 foreign bank account. And his lawyer Kapil Sibal also said same in the court
Now, ED finds 2 more London accounts of Karti. Seems Kapil Sibal may claim that Modi opened accounts in Karti's name during london visit in April

The CBI had earlier arrested Chidambaram’s son, Karti Chidambaram for his alleged role in facilitating FIPB clearance for INX Media. Besides father son-duo, the other accused in the case include then INX media director Indrani Mukerjea and then INX news director Peter Mukerjea.
