Chinese state broadcaster shows entire Kashmir including PoK to be part of India

In what could be considered a surprising yet significant move, China’s state-run broadcaster, CGNT depicted entire Jammu and Kashmir, including the PoK as a part of India. This has been a age old claim of India that entire Kashmir legally belongs to it.

The flag showing entire Kashmir as India’s part, was displayed while covering the recent terrorist attacks on Chinese consulate at Pakistan. Experts believe that this may be a deliberate move, as a result of recent hostilities between Pakistan and China due to terrorist attacks on the consulate.

Showing entire state of Jammu and Kashmir as part of India will also have implications for China-Pakistan-Economic-Corridor (CPEC). India has strong reservations on CPEC as it violates its sovereignty. CPEC is considered as the most important connectivity link under BRI.

CGTN, formerly known as CCTV-9 and CCTV News, is a Chinese international English-language news channel of the State-owned China Global Television Network group, part of the China Central Television, based in Beijing. The channel was launched on 25 September 2000.
