In what has come as a bombshell, senior CPI (M) politburo member S Ramachandran Pillai has admitted being a Shakha attending member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The admission came in response to a controversial news report published by Malayalam daily Janmabhoomi.
In an article, Janmabhoomi editor claimed that Pillai was in RSS before joining the CPIM. The article caused much controversy and furore across the state of Kerala. Now, in an interaction with a regional news channel, Pillai has himself admitted his connections with the right wing organization.
Pillai said that till the age of 15, he used to work with the RSS but later disassociated himself as he preferred “internationalism” over “nationalism.”
“Till I was 15 years of age, I worked with RSS but I completely dissociated from the organization after being convinced that what was needed is the broad concept of humanity rather than the narrow national consciousness,” he said.
According to the Organiser, S Ramachandran Pillai was an RSS Shikshak and maintained a very warm relationship with veteran RSS Pracharak Shri P Madhavan, whom Swayamsevaks fondly called Madhavaji.
