A day before voting in Gujarat, head priest of Swaminarayan temple attacked; BJP blames Congress

Mendarda Swaminarayan Swami attacked by unknown miscreants in poll-bound Gujarat and the Bhartiya Janata Party has claimed that Congress is behind it.

This is the first bout of violence coming from Gujarat during the campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections, which will begin tomorrow.

According to Times Now sources, the head priest of the ashram was campaigning for the BJP. There are two sects of the Swaminarayan temple and this particular sect has always been backing the ruling BJP in the state.

Both the sects have been warring with each other for a long time.

The motive behind the attack is yet to be known and the police have begun their investigation into the matter.
