Delhi police detains the organiser of Hanuman Chalisa recitation program at the desecrated Chandni Chowk Hindu temple, allegedly being pressurised to cancel the event

BJP activist from Delhi, Aviral Sharma who is scheduled to hold a large Hanuman Chalisa recitation program at the desecrated Hindu temple in Delhi’s Chadni Chowk, has reportedly been detained by police.

The Hanuman chalisa program was scheduled to take place today at 7pm at the Lal Kuan Durga temple. According to reports and claims floating around the social media, Aviral was picked up by Delhi police from his house. It is being alleged that in police station, he is being pressurised to cancel tonight’s Hanuman Chalisa recitation program.

Rebel Aam Aadmi Party MLA Kapil Mishra and Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga have tweeted about the detention of Aviral Sharma. However, as per latest received reports, he has been released from retention by the police.

An altercation over parking took a communal turn on June 30, followed by a group of miscreants vandalising the Hindu temple in the Lal Kuan area.

20-year-old resident of the area was parking his scooter outside a building. According to witnesses, a resident of the building who runs an eatery stall there objected to it.

A scuffle is said to have broken out soon after this. A video surfaced online which purportedly shows a man being beaten up by some people who were suspected to be drunk, over a parking issue.

Three separate cases were registered in connection with the incident. A case has been registered based on the scooter owner’s statement, the other case is based on the statement by the building resident and the third case was lodged against unknown persons for rioting and damaging public property.
