Counting across the five states of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Goa, Uttarakhand and Manipur has begun at 8 am this morning. As per early trends, BJP has taken a big early sweeping lead in Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand while Congress is expected to win in Punjab. SAD-BJP alliance along with AAP is fighting for 2nd and 3rd places.
The saffron party seems to be headed for its biggest victory in the state of Uttar Pradesh and clearly the Modi wave has consumed both the states of Uttarakhand and UP. It is leading on 250 seats, well above the magic mark of 202. Celebrations have already begun outside BJP office in Lucknow.
The Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance has been projected to be the runner-up followed by Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
The states of Goa and Manipur is heading for a tight race which seems to be a very close call at the moment.
With these two big victories in sight for BJP, the Modi Government is set to get a clear majority in the much needed Rajya Sabha.
