Ernakulam: NIA files chargesheet against ex CPIM workers Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal for Maoist activities

NIA has filed chargesheet against Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal who were arrested in November of last year for alleged maoist links. The chargesheet was submitted in Ernakulam special NIA court.

Alan and Fasal were arrested in Kozhikode on November 2019 for allegedly distributing Maoist propaganda pamphlets. The arrest was made by Pantheerankavu police. Chargesheet comes six months after the arrest was made.

NIA got hold of the case after it was investigated by the local police in initial stages.

The chargesheet accuses the detainees of unlawful activities and working in a banned organization. It also explicitly mentions that the two are members of CPI Maoist party. Various pamphlets and pendrives containing propaganda material were seized from their possession.

Apart from secretly functioning for the maoists, both Alan Shuhaib and Thaha Fasal were active workers for the Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPIM. In February of this year they were formally expelled from the party.
