Former President Pranab Mukherjee tests positive for COVID-19, undergoing treatment in Army run hospital

Former President Pranab Mukherjee on Monday tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently admitted in Army’s Research and referral hospital in New Delhi.

Taking to twitter on Monday afternoon, former President Pranab Mukherjee said that he is on a visit to hospital for a separate procedure and that he has tested positive for COVID-19. He further urged people who came in his contact over the last week to self isolate themselves and also get tested.

Ever since the announcement, wishes have poured in for the speedy recovery of the former President and seasoned politicians from various quarters.

The official Twitter handle of the current President of India informed that the current President Ram Nath Kovind has spoken to Mukherjee’s daughter to check on her father’s health and has shared his best wishes.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid a visit to the former President in the army run hospital.

Apart from Singh, Minister Nitin Gadkari, BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Army General and BJP parliamentarian VK Singh, actor turned politician Ravi Kishan, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Congress leader Ajay Maken also wished the former President on twitter.

Meanwhile on Monday, India recorded over 21,500 new COVID-19 cases. Whereas the recovery recorded more than 18,000 new recoveries.
