French investigation team in Kerala to interrogate the ISIS terrorists who were arrested from Kannur

The French investigation team that is probing the 2015 Paris attacks, arrived here at Kochi on Wednesday. Since, the French team along with NIA, are interrogating two ISIS terrorists named Jasim N K Subhani and Haja Moideen, who were arrested from Kannur.

The French team, reportedly wants to find out whether the two had a role in the Paris attacks or not. The French team decided to fly to Kochi after finding that Jasim N K Subhani had undergone foreign training along with those who took part in the 2015 Paris attack. 

Earlier, NIA had obtained permission from the court to interrogate the two terrorists, jointly with French team. 130 people were killed in the Paris attack in 2015. The team will stay back in Kerala for 3 days as part of the investigation.

Meanwhile, as a return favor, India has sought access to Muhammad Usman Ghani, a Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and conspirator of the 2015 Paris attack, in connection with the probe into Islamic State (IS)-related cases in India.

As per sources, international intelligence agencies have traced links of various Islamic fringe groups including ISIS and reformed versions of the banned organization, SIMI. However, Instead of a blanket ban, the Union Home Ministry is seeking other options including choking of foreign funding sources.
