In a shocking incident, main gate of a historical Buddhist monastery was set on fire by some miscreants yesterday.
However, due to timely arrival of personnel from Fire Services and Police besides some citizens prevented any major damage to the gate. The incident was followed by a daylong protest today by number of protestors during in Chowkhang Vihara when General Council of Ladakh Buddhist Association meeting on the issue was underway.

One culprit behind the attack was nabbed in the night itself. The Ladakh Buddhist Association urged people not to spread the incident on social media and create communal tensions in the area.
The LBA President has said that the gate of the monastery has been burnt alongwith structure around it which is very unfortunate, though later the fire was controlled by police and fire brigade.
