National e-Governance Division, NeGD in collaboration with Intel, concluded the Digital Wellness Online Challenge and reached out to around ten lakh children on digital wellness and security. Aimed at enhancing awareness on digital technology, an online quiz was designed to create awareness on benefits and threats of internet based interactions amongst children from classes 6 to 12.
On successful completion of the quiz, the students were given the option to print or email their electronic certificates. The winners would be invited to New Delhi by the Department of Electronics and Information Technology and will be felicitated by Minister for Communications and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad in an award ceremony.
In the recent past, several young students have fallen prey to people who lure them in the name of love, or riches, and kidnap the children and demand ransom. The use of social media by terrorist organisations for recruiting innocent young minds in also on the increase.
This quiz will help the children be aware of such practices over the internet and be safe, and secure. This program was conducted under the Digital India Program which PM Modi launched a few weeks ago.
