Gujarat boy who had embraced Islam to marry his love, commits suicide

The 22 years old Piyush Solanki, had never imagined that the girl for the whom he even gave up his ancestral faith and became Saleem, would end up become the cause of his death.

In 2017, Piyush Solanki embraced Islam to marry his girlfriend from the Muslim community, Salina. However after sometime, Salina’s old friend Idris Sipahi entered their life. Sipahi showed Solanki, some images of him with Salina in compromising position.

“Solanki hanged himself to death from the ceiling of his residence in Gayatrinagar locality of Dhrol in Jamnagar district on the evening of January 14. Salina lodged a complaint against Sipahi for suicide abetment on Wednesday night,” said K S Dalsania, assistant sub-inspector of Dhrol police station.

Police said that three years ago, when Salina got married to a youth from her community, Sipahi got her divorced in a fortnight after showing their photographs to her husband.
Later, she fell in love with Solanki, who decided to convert to Islam to marry her. They got married in 2017. Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for Sipahi.
