AHEAD OF ELECTIONS, GOVERNMENT GIVES ‘SOPS’ TO MINORITY JOURNALISTS
The Director of Minorities, Government of Karnataka has written to the Director of Information and Public Relations, Government of Karnataka asking him to release ‘Media Kit’ to those Journalists who have got the ‘Minority tag’ and 2 pages advertisement in minority recognized newspapers in the State.
SatyaVijayi has a copy of the copy Government order MWD 566 MDS 2017, dtd: 27.07.2018
The order says that ‘Minority Journalists’ shall get a free Media Kit consisting of a Laptop, Handy Camera, Steel Camera worth Rs.61,750/-. Further, a minimum of two pages advertisements of the programmes/publicity of all departments will appear in such papers, which will act as a source of revenue.
Who will get the benefits?
Those journalists, who have been recognized by Information Department, Government of Karnataka in association with Association of Minority Journalists will bear the responsibility of identifying such journalists at the State and District level, prepare a list of beneficiaries and submit to the Minorities department for doing the needful, the letter says.
Siddaramaih, who is known to play the Minority card effectively, is now targeting Journalists. Journalism which has no caste, religion boundaries is now being targetted with such incentives and offers of advertisements with a ‘quid pro quo’ to ensure they do not highlight the misdeeds of the government.
GOVERNMENT OF THE MASSES OR GOVERNMENT OF MINORITIES?
Incidentally, Siddaramaih has started the campaign ahead of the elections under the slogan Nava Karnataka Nirmana which means creating a ‘New Karnataka’. Such unscrupulous schemes will only showcase the Congress Government in poor light ahead of the crucial elections. The desperation to get back to power through such schemes is palpable. Law and order situation has fallen to a new low in Karnataka State; the Government withdrew the transfer orders of Rohini Sindhuri, DC from Hassan who ensured there was no corruption in the Mahamastabhisheka held recently. The Election Commission had written to the State Government not to transfer Sindhuri- as she was involved in the election process.
WITHDRAWS TRANSFER ORDER OF HONEST IAS OFFICER ROHINI SINDHURI
The Government of Karnataka has to pay dearly for such ‘Harebrained Ideas’ for getting publicity through such newspapers. While development has taken a backseat, emergence of such ideas as the cost of the tax payer’s money with an inherent fervour to please the minorities deserves the harshest condemnation. The Government is in deep slumber and need to wake up if it has to fight the anti incumbency wave through development and not such ‘Minority Appeasement’ measures – a tried and tested tactic of the Siddaramaih Government.
Its not the first time that Congress Government under Siddaramaih are doing extreme appeasement of Minorities and particularly Muslims. In 2013, Congress Karnataka Chief G Parameshwara had quoted “It’s OK if minorities don’t repay loans” and loans were waved off.
In a democratic republic like India, is it ideal for Political Parties like Congress to do such Minority Appeasement for the sake of Votes demeaning Democracy and Constitution of India?
