Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a two-day visit to the United States as part of his three-nation tour. The US President Donald Trump hosted PM Modi at the White House on June 26 where the two leaders talked about various issues including combating terrorism and strengthening ties between the two nations. President Trump and Prime Minister Modi expressed confidence that, together, the United States and India will provide strong leadership to address global challenges and build prosperity for their citizens in the decades to come.
During his first meeting with the US President Donald Trump and first Lady Melania Trump, Prime Minister Narendra Modi exchanged gifts.
Prime Minister Modi gifted the first lady with a hamper containing handcrafted Himachali silver bracelet, tea and honey from Kangra valley and also hand-woven shawls from Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.
PM Modi gifted President Donald Trump a wooden chest with intricate inlay pattern, a specialty of Punjab’s Hoshiarpur. In exchange for it, the US President presented PM Modi a guided tour of White House including the Lincoln bedroom. He also gifted a copy of the famous Gettysburg address of the 16th US President of the US and the desk on which he wrote it.
