Kolkata : On Thursday the Bajrang Dal organized a protest against the Anandabazar Patrika for publishing a denigrating picture of Goddess Durga. The Anandabazar Patrika, published a denigrating image of Goddess Durga as the cover photo of one of their magazine. The protesters led by Bajrang Dal, gathered near the Chadni Chowk Metro station of Kolkata, which is just minutes away from the office of the Anandabazar Patrika. But before the protesters could stage their protest properly, they were arrested by the Kolkata police and sent to custody at the Kolkata police headquarters, Lalbazar.
The Bajrang Dal and the other Hindu organizations are calling it suppression of the Hindu voice by the West Bengal government of TMC. The Hindu organizations are now planning for massive protests in larger scale. Their demand is an apology from the editor of the Anandabazar Patrika, Anirban Chattopadhyay, who is said to be a leftist person.
Moreover The government of West Bengal should take action against those who have insulted the Religious feelings of the Hindus and insulted the culture of Bengal altogether by denigrating Goddess Durga. West Bengal is the land of Goddess worshippers, Durga Puja is the biggest religious festival in that part of the country. Goddess Durga is synonymous with the identity of Bengal, the city Kolkata is known as the city of Goddess Kali, who is another aspect of Goddess Durga. The very name of Kolkata is derived from the name Kali-kata. It is very unfortunate if Goddess Durga is getting insulted in the land of Ramkrishna Paramhamsa. The journalists must also raise their voices against Anandabazar Patrika, because what it has done goes completely against the ideals and ethics of Journalism.
