I WAS FORCED TO RESIGN FROM CHIEF MINISTER-SHIP – O PANEERSELVAM

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam is a man of few words but when he speaks, he ensures that he makes his point loud and clear. Few minutes back, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam emerged back from a silent prayer in front of J Jayalalithaa’s resting place at Marina Beach and made some startling statements.

  • Just after the death of J Jayalalithaa, I was informed that E Madhusudhanan should take over as General Secretary of AIADMK but I refused
  • I accepted the post of Chief Minister-ship only on the insistence of several ministers from the state and I did not want to disrespect the party
  • Within two days of taking over of the post of CM, dissent began against me in the form of Health Minister Diwakar

  • The situation in Tamil Nadu became tense due to cyclone Vardah and Water scarcity for farmers, I was busy working to tackle these issues for the people
  • The next big issue was Jallikattu, for which I had to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi

  • Deputy Lok Sabha speaker also wanted to meet PM Modi along with 50 Members of Parliament, but PM Modi could meet only me since it was for the same cause.
  • Second instance of dissent came in the form of R B Udhayakumar, Revenue Minister, who insisted that Sasikala should be CM. Ironically, I had only appointed the revenue minister.
  • Although the minister was warned and I was informed that such acts will not happen, I was constantly hurled with more insults by my own ministers
  • I can take personal insults issued against me but I cannot take the insults issued against the post of Chief Minister which was once chaired by J Jayalalithaa

  • The meeting of Member Of Legislative Assembly happened yesterday but I was not informed as to what was the meeting for since I was busy solving the issue of Ennore Oil spill for the last one week
  • I was informed that General Secretary and Chief Ministership should come under one person and was also asked to propose the name of Sasikala, hence I resigned

  • I WAS FORCED TO TENDER MY RESIGNATION

  • It is after all these events that I have come here to pray at the resting place of Puratchi Thalaivi (Revolutionary Leader) J Jayalalithaa
  • I felt J Jayalalithaa’s soul supporting me and that she said that will stand with me during all these issues hence now I have approached the people of Tamil Nadu

Concluding his 15 minute speech, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Paneerselvam, left us with these parting words. “I will be ready to fight alone, will take back my resignation if people of Tamil Nadu and AIADMK workers support me”
