Imam Tawhidi challenges Asaduddin Owaisi to debate

Imam Tawhidi is known as the Imam of Peace with over one hundred thousand followers and part of his international mandate is to call out extremists and terrorists.

His website describes him as an Australian Muslim Scholar, Thinker, Educator, Speaker, and one of the main leading voices in the global movement of Islamic reform who has dedicated his life to ideologically tackling the spread of Islamic Extremism. In the recent times, he has become one of the most prominent Muslim voices in the Australian media.

Recently Tawhidi’s Facebook page has been unpublished after he made a post mocking the terrorist group Hamas, and speaking in sarcastic terms about “peaceful Palestinian protests.” He has frequently been at the receiving end of death threats through social media and physical assaults for calling out extremists in the Islamic community.

His opinions on Pakistan and Kashmir has earned him a very controversial stance, especially for extremists from the Islamic community. “Pakistan is an illegitimate country founded upon hate and blood. Its constitution claims to maintain the rights of all citizens yet the government fails to recognise the rights of minorities. Kashmir is Hindu land. Pakistan has no right to claim Kashmir. Kashmir belonged to India before Pakistan was created,” he suggested in an interview to OpIndia.

Now Tawhidi has challenged Asaduddin Owaisi, who is the President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen.

Indian Twitteratti have already come out with reactions in expectation of this interview, but will Asaduddin Owaisi accept this challenge? That is apparently the big question.
