West Bengal is witnessing wide spread political violence ever since the campaigning for panchayat elections began. Till now more than a dozen people have lost their lives in various political clashes that erupted throughout the course of past one month or so. All the opposition parties in West Bengal have unanimously blamed the ruling TMC for the violences and accused them of destroying democracy in the state.
Meanwhile putting a rest to all the speculations about the schedule of the elections, Kolkata High Court on Thursday said that the elections will take place as planned by the state election commission. Which means now the Panchayat elections will take place according to the previous schedule, in a single phase on 14th May.
