Heaping praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Infosys CEO, NR Narayana Murthy said that the he has led a “strong economic progress minded” government. Speaking to ET Now, the Infosys CEO complimented the government for working “very hard” to reducing corruption at central level and bringing reforms such as Goods and Service Tax (GST).
However speaking about the execution of policies, Narayana Murthy said that it is the responsibility of the bureaucracy and not of Prime Minister, “I broadly feel that PM has led a strong economic progress minded government. We cannot hold PM responsible for execution, it is the bureaucracy that has to do it.”
Further backing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a second term, Narayana Murthy said that it is good to have a Prime Minister focused on economic growth and discipline, adding that continuity is good for economy.
He also remarked on the ongoing rift between the Government and RBI, stating that both the parties are doing “what is legitimately their mandate” and they will come to a solution, though he also stressed upon the autonomy of institutions.
Meanwhile, talking about the government’s focus on building statues and temples, instead of development, he said that these are not the points of concern for him.
Apart from this, Murthy recently said that new technologies like machine learning, automation and Internet of Things (IoT) can help in accelerating growth for businesses in India if used intelligently and in an assertive manner. He also stressed on the point that enterprises should focus on providing training to youths in the country on these technologies.
