Jaya Prada slams Jaya Bachchan’s defence of drug-tainted Bollywood, accuses SP leader of doing politics

Bollywood is fast getting divided into two factions over the drug and nepotism controversy. And now, the controversy has pitched one Jaya against another.

Veteran actress turned politician, BJP MP Jaya Prada has slammed the remarks made by fellow actress turned politician, Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan in the parliament. Taking side of those seeking Reforma in the industry and backing the comments of actor Ravi Kishan, Jaya Prada said, “I completely support Ravi Kishan ji’s remarks about saving youth from the problem of drug trafficking/addiction. We need to raise our voice against the use of drugs & we need to save our youth. I think Jaya Bachchan ji is doing politics over the issue.”

Further expressing astonishment over Jaya Bachchan’s comments in the parliament where she appeared to be taking the matter rather personally, Jaya Prada asked, “Why is Jaya ji taking this issue so personally? She should be speaking about saving the youth so that another case like Sushant’s does not take place. He has left us and the whole country wants justice for him.”

This reaction by Jaya Prada came after Samajwadi Party MP on Tuesday gave a zero hour notice in the Upper House over an alleged conspiracy to defame the film industry. Without directly naming Ravi Kishan who a day earlier had raised his voice against drug addiction in the industry, Jaya Bachchan stated that she was “ashamed that yesterday one of our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the film industry, spoke against it.”

It remains to be seen where the controversy heads from here on. But it is needless to say that Bollywood for the first time in its existence, finds itself in a predicament it had never been in before. The credibility of the industry is up for toss and if immediate steps are not taken to improve the image of the industry in the eyes of the common people, then the industry might incur heavy losses.
