Karnataka BJP uses Rahul Gandhi’s views on the arrest of Journalist to take dig at his “friend” HD Kumaraswamy

The Karnataka unit of the BJP has used Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s views on the arrest of UP journalist Prashant Kanojia, to dig at his “friend”, Karnataka CM HD Kumaraswamy.

Criticising the arrest of the Journalist who had allegedly made objectionable remarks about UP Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi had said that if every journalist who files a false report or peddles fake, vicious RSS/BJP sponsored propaganda about him is put in jail, most newspapers or news channels would face a severe staff shortage.

Using Rahul Gandhi’s tweet, the BJP took a swipe at Kumaraswamy and listed out incidents of police action against some journalists in the state and also accused the Congress chief of “hypocrisy”.

Two men have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody in Karnataka for allegedly posting a video abusing former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his family on social media.

On a complaint from a ruling JD(S) office-bearer, the two, said to be party supporters, were arrested on Saturday under IPC sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief), police said.
