Tremors in Karnataka Coalition Government as 13 Rebel MLAs go on vacation?

  • Ramesh Jarakiholi, an influential Congress leader, holding the Small Scale
Industries portfolio in the Coalition Government goes on an unscheduled
    vacation.
  • 12 MLA’s accompany him to Ajmer
  • The unscheduled vacation has infuriated AICC chief Rahul Gandhi
  • The rebellion comes after HD Kumarswamy expressed ‘helplessness’ in
    running the coalition government

Just after a few days after, HD Kumaraswamy – Chief Minister of Karnataka
expressed his helplessness on having limited powers in the Coalition
government, there seems to be another headache for the coalition.

The powerful Jarakiholi brothers who have a very good rapport with State BJP
chieftain BS Yeddyurappa have quietly gone on a vacation. Accompanying him
are 12 MLA’s reportedly upset over not getting the Ministerial berth.

Show of Strength or De-stressing?

While Congress sources say that they have no information on the sudden and
unexpected vacation of 13 MLA’s, close sources to the MLA’s and Jarakiholi
brothers say that Ramesh Jarakiholi is the leader of the rebellion for not
getting ministerial berths and lack of representation in Boards and
Corporations.

Miscommunication or deliberate silence?

The unscheduled vacation comes closely after HD Kumaraswamy denied
having any information on ‘gifting’ I-Phones worth Rs.50,000 to Karnataka
MPs. His foe-turned-friend DK Shivakumar later confirmed that he had taken
the decision to gift the I-phones so that the MPs could use the technology and
use it meetings etc. The legislators have reportedly gone to Jaipur for a short
vacation.

The coalition is on tenterhooks with the different ideologies of Congress and JD
(S). While the parties have united to keep BJP at bay, the administration is
marred with differences of opinion and disunity among senior leaders of the
party.

With rains pounding many parts of the state and people in urgent need of
help; deteriorating law and order situation, the Chief Minister is busy ‘dousing
fire’ within and outside the party to convince disgruntled leaders and shuttling
between Delhi and Bengaluru.

Astrology; Vastu; Internal rebellion takes a precedence at a time when, HD
Kumaraswamy had to take stock of the situation in Karnataka and provide
stable administration.
