Largest statue of Lord Shiva, soon to be inaugurated in Rajasthan

Rajasthan is all set to soon inaugurate a large statue of Lord Shiva. This is going to be largest bust of Lord Shiva in the world and overall fourth largest statue. The largest of-course being the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, depicting Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, that was inaugurated last month.

As per reports, nearly 85% of the work on the huge statue has been completed so far, and the statue is likely to be inaugurated by March 2019. The statue is being constructed at Ganesh Tekri in Nathdwara, which is around 50 kms away from Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Lord Shiva will be depicted in a pleasing form in the statue. The statue is being made using concrete and cement. Nearly 750 workers have been working on this project since the last four years. The foundation stone for the Murti was laid in August 2012 by the then chief minister of the state, Ashok Gehlot, and spiritual leader, Murari Bapu.

Notably, the statue of Lord Shiva is likely to be so tall that it will be visible from Kankroli flyover, which is around 20kms away. Reports said that the statue was being constructed in the region as a tourist attraction. Apart from the renowned Srinath Mandir, people will now be able to visit Shiva Murti, as well as a theatre and a garden on their visit to Nathdwara.
