Major allegations of extortion against senior Trinamool Congress leader

Kolkata : A Kolkata based businessman has made major allegations of extortion against senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and mayor of Bidhannagar municipality, Sabyasachi Dutta. Madhusudan Chakraborty who is a real estate promoter, on Tuesday held a press conference at Calcutta Press club from where he made shocking and serious allegations against the senior TMC leader.

Chakraborty alleged that Sabyasachi Dutta has extorted 2.30lacs from him through an aide called Bidyut Ganguly for election expenses in Tripura and is further threatening for 1crore more. Madhusudan Chakraborty further alleged that he was given deadline of 12th February to pay the amount but after he failed, mayor Sabyasachi Dutta tried to contact him several times since Monday night.

“Dutta told me he needs Rs 1 crore for Tripura poll expenses. Initially, he demanded Rs 2.30 lacs to buy flags and other publicity material. Accordingly, I paid him the money on February 2 to his aide. But he continued threatening me with dire consequences for the rest of the amount,” Chakraborty alleged.

Madhusudan Chakraborty also released some audio records, which he claimed to be of conversations between him and Sabyasachi Dutta. In one of those records, the voice which is allegedly of Sabyasachi Dutta is heard saying that Mamata Banerjee is aware of everything.

“In case you fail (to pay), no one would be worse than me. You can tell anyone you wish. Even if you tell Mamata Banerjee, nothing will change. She is well aware of all this,” the voice, claiming to be Sabyasachi Dutta, is heard saying in the audio. It must be noted that Satyavijayi has not verified the authenticity of the tapes.

The voice claimed to be of mayor Sabyasachi Dutta is heard threatening Madhusudan Chakraborty in other tapes also. Chakraborty lodged a complaint at Bidhannagar police commissionerate on Tuesday and has sent a copy of the same to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

However Sabyasachi Dutta has completely rubbished the allegations and even denied to recognize anyone named Madhusudan Chakraborty.

Meanwhile the BJP launched a scatching attack on TMC regarding the allegations. The grand nephew of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and BJP Bengal vice president, Chandra Kumar Bose said, “It is not surprising at all. The entire party is based on extortion money. 99.9 per cent of TMC funds are extracted from businessmen. Even my cousin Sugata Bose, who is a TMC MP was not spared by his own party goons. He too was attacked and asked for a ransom recently. TMC doesn’t even spare their own! It is a total syndicate raj and Mamata Banerjee is herself running this syndicate.”

It is certain that the opposition and particularly BJP will leave no stone unturned in using the issue to attack TMC prior to Panchayat elections in West Bengal this year.
