Kolkata: Various top West Bengal BJP leaders including the state youth President Debjit Sarkar have been injured in a violent confrontation which broke out between BJP and TMC workers this afternoon near BJP West Bengal headquarters at Chittaranjan avenue, Kolkata.
The violence triggered when a mob of unknown men probably belonging to nearby notorious Muslim area Kelabagan, attacked the car of special observer appointed by the high court. The observer was appointed to follow the entire BJYM Bike rally on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Birth Anniversary.
As per sources a mob allegedly belonging to TMC attacked on BJP workers. The BJP also retaliated following which the violence spread across entire Chittaranjan avenue also known as the Central Avenue. A similar violence also broke out at nearby Jorabagan area between workers of the two parties. According to BJP they were about to take out a bike rally from Binani guesthouse at Jorabagan when TMC mob attacked on them.
BJYM state youth President Debjit Sarkar is severely injured and is currently under medical care. BJP National President Amit Shah personally called West Bengal state President Dilip Ghosh to take report about the entire situation.
Similar violent clashes have taken place near the BJP West Bengal Headquarters at CR Avenue several times in past. The BJP state office is surrounded by various notorious muslim areas like Kelabagan and Nil Madhab Sen Lane locally known as the Jalwa Tolli.
