Maoists in Police Uniform drag jawan out of daughter’s birthday party, shoot him dead

Two dozen Maoists posing as cops entered an SSB jawan’s house while he was celebrating his daughter’s birthday on Monday night, dragged him out and pumped six bullets into him from AK-47 rifles in front of his father at Pandeydih village under Barhat police station of Jamui district.

Eyewitnesses said there were women among the rebels too. While assaulting Yadav, the maosits accused of him of being a “police informer” and shouted that they were “punishing” him.

The Maoists fled to the nearby forest area after killing the jawan.

While leaving the village, the Maoists chanted slogans, including “Death for all police informers,” said sources. Yadav had come home on leave on September 15 and had been busy organising birthday celebrations for his five-year-old daughter, said sources. After the incident, police forces were sent to the village.

On the same day, Army jawan Mukhtar Ahmed was killed by some militants when he was at his home in Kulgam to mourn the death of his son. The militants barged into the house of Mukhtar Ahmad Malik in Shurat village and shot him from close range. Malik was a counter-insurgent before he joined the territorial army, the police added.
