Minister Kadakampally Surendran’s Guruvayur worship stirs row

Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran’s visit to Guruvayur temple triggered a controversy, with the CPM state leadership saying it is collecting details regarding the matter. CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said he was not aware of details of the minister’s temple visit. The minister had visited the temple on Ashtami Rohini day and offered prayer.

The minister had visited the temple on Ashtami Rohini day and offered pushpanjali on behalf of his family members. Apart from making a donation, he reportedly offered prayers at the sacred steps of the temple. He contributed money for anna danam as well. Later at a public meeting, the minister said he felt content after the visit.

Since CPM ministers visiting temples is rare, the visit created a controversy. However, he said those who were intolerant about good works he was doing were creating an unnecessary controversy.

Now the point is when a Christian CPM Minister can visit a Church and a Muslim Minister can visit Mosque then why not a Hindu Minister can visit Temple.

And  Ideologically, the Muslim communalists and Godless Communists are poles apart in their worldview. It is however said that Muslim communalists often used the cadres of the Communist Party of India (CPI) as their point men in furtherance of their communal grievances. Who used whom may be a debatable question but the experience of their political game in this country shows that they fought jointly against the nationalist forces, which were their common target. May be that is the reason why communists In kerala can openly visit Church And Mosque but not Temples.
