Mithali Raj breaks world record during first ODI against Sri Lanka

Mithali Raj vaulted into record books of women’s cricket on Tuesday as she created a record of leading a team most number of times in ODIs. The veteran Indian cricketer has donned the captaincy hat in 118 ODIs now, one ahead of Charlotte Edwards, former England skipper who led her country in 117 ODIs.

Accolades started pouring in on Twitter for the Indian captain the moment she made history. India cricket captain Virat Kohli congratulated her compatriot for creating a new world record.

Virat tweeted,” A great moment for Indian Cricket, @M_Raj03 becomes the highest run scorer in Women’s ODI Cricket History today. Champion Stuff!”

The International Cricket Council also went ahead and congratulated the Indian captain.
