Even as Indian forces are fighting the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the border to protect India’s sovereignty, and the Government is trying to rid the Indian markets of the influence of the red dragon, all this seems to be having little effect on Indian cricketers.
A day after Sachin Tendulkar faced flak for signing as the brand ambassador for a Chinese venture, another cricket legend, MS Dhoni has signed with Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO. The Chennai Super Kings cricketer has signed with OPPO for the company’s latest gimmick campaign named #BeTheInfinite.
“I am very excited to be a part of a project which aims to inspire people to push their limits and follow their passion. It is a pleasure to collaborate with OPPO as they have been at the forefront of pushing their limits in technology and innovation,” said MS Dhoni while commenting on the collaboration.
Recently, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) came down heavily on cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar for becoming the brand ambassador for a joint venture between Paytm and Chinese company AG Tech. In a strong worded letter, the CAIT general secretary had termed Tendulkar’s decision as “disgusting.” Later the body issued an ultimatum till Sunday for Tendulkar to respond, adding that failing which they would be forced to resort to protests.
It remains to be seen if MS Dhoni receives similar criticism or somehow manages to get away with the move quietly.
