Ill give you steps:
Step 1:
Buy brown papers and cover that book up you. and don’t forget to buy name tag stickers.

and here is the youtube video for it :

and if you are more into textual informations, here is the link for it from great Martha Stewart :http://www.marthastewart.com/265…
step 2:
Now that is beautiful looking, open the pages smell them.
I mean have you smelled pages of a new book. I hope your friend gave you brand new book. Although old ones also smell good. and yeah, while you are at it, learn about the reason behind that amazing smell, and ME(the awesome guy) will provide you link for that too : What Causes the Smell of New & Old Books?

step 3:
Get good reference book for Bhagavad Gita. I bet you aren’t going to understand a lot if you just read straight forward.
This link provides some books name for references: Recommended Books for Reference & Study of Bhagavad Gita (in Marathi, Hindi & English)

step 4:
In a peaceful corner of your room, sit with a pen and paper.

step 5:
Gita has around 700 verses. SO you decided how much time you want to give to read the book and then accordingly read a few verses daily. and then read their references.
The Bhagavad Gita presents a synthesis of the Brahmanical concept of Dharma, theistic bhakti, the yogic ideals of moksha through jnana, bhakti, karma, and RajaYoga and Samkhya philosophy.
Those are some hard concepts and need good reading to understand exactly.

Or, after covering it up nicely in brown paper, keep it on the top of the shelf and showcase it to prove your secular credentials and not to mention intellectual growth.
good luck.
