‘Namaste England’ poster cuts out portion of India from map

A new poster of the movie was released a few days ago, and it became viral in no time. And fans soon noticed that the poster which also has India’s map along with a picture of Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra, has been distorted. The map has cut out the Aksai Chin region of Jammu & Kashmir.

As per the law misrepresentation of the Indian map is regarded as a violation of the National Map Policy that was introduced in 2005. Apart from this, the Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1961, criminalizes the act of misrepresentation of India’s external boundaries that comes with a punishment of imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or both.

This is not for the first time a Hindi film has gone wrong while showing the map of India. Even one of the most popular patriotic Hindi films of all time, Karma, featured the map of the country without correct borders.

As for the film itself, Namaste England is said to be a romantic comedy directed and co-produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah. A sequel to the 2007 film Namastey London, the film stars Arjun Kapoor, Parineeti Chopra and Aditya Seal.
