The national anthem was played for the first time in the Tripura Assembly on Friday 23rd March 2018.
The first session of the newly elected House begun with the election of Speaker Rebati Mohan Das.
Assembly Secretary Bamdeb Majumder said they will try to play the national anthem every day. As soon as the House assembled at 11 and Pro-tem speaker Ratan Chakraborty arrived to conduct the Speaker’s elections, the national anthem was played and all the ministers, members, officials, journalists and spectators stood up to show respect.
For four decades and more, the CPM ruled the state, and for many, it was the sober and simple personality of Manik Sarkar which shined in the green landscape. The BJP emerged with a clear majority by bagging 35 seats in Tripura, while its ally, the Indigenous People’s Front Of Tripura (IPFT), managed to win eight seats, taking their alliance tally to 43.
