Pinarayi Vijayan is Google’s answer for ‘Bad Chief Minister’

After American Presidents Donald Trump, Pakistani Primer Imran Khan, and Congress Matriarch Sonia Gandhi, Kerala CM, Pinarayi Vijayan is the latest victim of Google search results. A simple search for the keyword, ‘bad Chief Minister’ brings up the name of Vijayan, who is incumbent Chief Minister of Kerala and one of the senior most leaders of Communist Party of India (Marxist).

On Monday, Google recorded over 20,000 searches on the keyword ‘bad chief minister’. Meanwhile, the Kerala chief minister’s supporters smell the Opposition’s hand behind this strange happening. The CM is already going through tough times, with the state embroiled in debate about the entry of women inside Sabarimala shrine.

Time and again Google has landed in trouble owing to its troublesome algorithm. Very recently, search for ‘Italian bar dancer’ was throwing up the image of former Congress President, Sonia Gandhi. The random search results have been such a pain in head for some, that the company’s CEO, Sundar Pichai had to appear for an US Congress hearing and explain the entire process.

This comes at a time when, Vijayan is been facing flak for ‘poor handling’ of the violence in the southern Indian state. Kerala has been witnessing unprecedented violence between workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the CPI(M) and both parties have accused each other of orchestrating violence in the state. The state witnessed widespread clashes following a hartal called by the right-wing groups over the entry of women in Sabarimala.

However, Vijayan on Monday accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the BJP for orchestrating the violence. “The RSS and BJP are trying to destroy the law and order situation in Kerala. Around 91.71% people engaged in violence are from sangh parivar groups. This includes attacks on people’s representatives, media, houses and party offices” he said while addressing a press conference.
