Piyush Goyal hits back at Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Pawan Khera demanded the immediate sacking of Union Minister Piyush Goyal, alleging that his family has business interests in companies that are in default. The party also demanded a judicial investigation by a sitting Supreme Court judge to see if there was conflict of interest in the case.

A story published by The Wire claims that a company with Union Minister Piyush Goyal as its chairman was unable to repay loans worth Rs 650 crore. Mumbai-based Shirdi Industries owes Rs 650 crore to eight public sector banks. The firm had borrowed money for its expansion in 2010 and was declared a sick company in 2015 after defaulting on loans.

Despite its unimpressive financial credentials, Shirdi Industries gave a loan to a firm owned by Goyal’s wife, Seema and son, Dhruv Goyal.

Piyush Goyal has now strongly hit back at Rahul Gandhi openly pointing out Rahul Gandhi as a “Dynasty”.

Earlier hitting back at the Congress over its allegations against Union minister Piyush Goyal, the BJP said that the Congress party was making “false”, “sensational” and “scurrilous” statements to divert attention from the many scams committed by it.

The BJP, in a late night statement, said the Congress was misrepresenting the income earned by Goyal through professional consultancy.

“The Congress continues its past record of making false, sensational and scurrilous statements to divert attention from huge scams of Congress party and its leaders which are in public domain,” the statement said.
