The leader of Congress in Parliament, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Monday had come up with a list of projects and works that were completed under the previous regimes led by Congress party. Alleging that the current government of Prime Minster Narendra Modi doesn’t recognise the contributions made by the previous governments, Chowdhury presented a list of projects, which included Gujarat’s famous Sardar Sarovar Dam.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, hit back at the Congress leaders with some facts. Maintaining that his party acknowledges the contributions made by all the past governments at both Union and state level, the Prime Minister said that some have made it into a habit to present twisted and incomplete facts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the concerned dam was a brainchild of Sardar Patel and the symbolic foundation for it was laid by none other than India’s first Prime Minister and stalwart Congress leader, Jawaharlal Nehru.
However, ever since the project kept getting delayed. “As Chief Minister of Gujarat, I had to embark on a fast for this project. After NDA took office, the pace of work increased significantly and it is benefiting many people, said PM Narendra Modi returning the jibe to the Congress leader.”
PM Narendra Modi’s reply on the motion of thanks was his first address to Parliament after being voted to power for the second consecutive term last month. He emphasised the need to move together to fulfill the dream of a strong, safe, developed and inclusive nation.
“I think beyond winning and losing elections. I strive for the welfare of the countrymen. For me, what is satisfying is the opportunity to serve 130 crore Indians and do work that has made a positive difference in the lives of our citizens,” said PM Narendra Modi.
