Prime Minister Modi takes jibe on the Mamata meme controversy: dares West Bengal CM to make ugly picture of him, says won’t file FIR

Addressing a public meeting at West Bengal on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched scathing attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the arrest of BJP activist Priyanka Sharma. The youth BJP activist, was taken into custody by the West Bengal police for sharing a meme based on CM Mamata Banerjee.

In reference to the controversy, PM Modi said he would not file an FIR against the Bengal CM, Prime Minister Modi dared West Bengal Chief Minister to make a ugly picture of him.

“Didi, aap khud artist ho. Aapse agrah karunga, aap mera bhadde se bhadda chitra banaiye aur May 23 ke baad, meri PM shapth ke baad, meri jo tasveer aapne banayi hai, woh mujhe bhent karen, mein aap par FIR nahi karunga (Mamata Didi, you yourself are an artist. This is my request that you sketch an offensive caricature of mine and gift it to me after May 23, after I take the oath of PM. I will not file an FIR against you),” Modi said at a rally here, before the last phase of 2019 Lok Sabha elections on May 19.

Referring to Priyanka Sharma, Modi said, “Didi, jin betiyon ko aap jail mein daalne ka kaam kar rahi hain, wahi betiyaan aapko sabak dene wali hain. Ek tasveer ke liye itna gussa? (Didi, the same daughters whom you are putting behind bars will teach you a lesson. So much anger for one picture?)”

Meanwhile, the PM also said that the BJP was on course to win a majority in the elections and that West Bengal would help the ruling party win more than 300 seats. “All the surveys are giving BJP a full majority on its own. But Didi, after seeing your frustration and the support from the people of Bengal, I’m saying that Bengal will help us win more than 300 seats,” the PM said.

“Mamata didi had declared publicly two days ago that she will take revenge. She fulfilled her agenda within 24 hours. BJP president Amit Shah’s roadshow was attacked,” he said, in reference to the violence witnessed during Shah’s roadshow in Kolkata yesterday.
