Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Friday revealed that he met with various Chinese Ministers during his pilgrimage to Kailash Mansarovar. The revelation was made by the Gandhi scion while he was addressing a gathering at Odisha’s Bubhaneshwar. “We have to compete with China. We have to accept that the single biggest challenge is China’s ability to produce jobs after jobs. I met a couple of Chinese ministers during my visit to Kailash Mansarover and discussed job creation with them,” he said.
Soon after he made the revelation, the Ministry of External affairs clarified that Rahul Gandhi was on a personal trip to Kailash Mansarovar and was not on any official missions.
Rahul Gandhi’s comment soon invited a strong reaction from the BJP. “Rahul Gandhi had earlier said he will not be meeting Chinese ministers or officials during his tour. Today, he said that when I went there I met many ministers. He has admitted while Congress has been denying it. Why didn’t he inform the MEA? Why was the Indian embassy kept out of the loop? What was the interaction about with Chinese ministers? Truth has a habit of propping up its head. We’d said this earlier,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
Patra also attacked Rahul Gandhi for not following the protocol and said, “You may be a private citizen but a protocol has to be followed.”
