Is the Congress party attempting to break the consolidated Hindu vote bank of BJP into castes on their favor? The question arises because The Rajasthan Congress leader, Suresh Mishra is trying to spark a new protest similar to anti-padmavati violences. Congress leader Suresh Mishra who also heads an organization called Sarva Brahman Mahasabha on Monday came out against upcoming movie based on Rani Laxmibai named Manikarnika:The Queen of Jhansi.
From a press conference on Monday, Mishra alleged that the movie portrays a love Story between Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi and a Britisher. He said that he came to know about the fact from his sources. The allegations here seem to be very similar to those which were made against Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat. He also threatened that his organization will not allow the movie to release if they are not shown the script.
However the makers of the movie have clarified that there are no distortion of history in the movie. They have further assured that the character of Queen Laxmibai who an inspiration for masses has been treated with utmost respect and dignity.
Kamal Jain, the film’s producer, said in a statement: “As responsible filmmakers, we have taken utmost care while portraying Rani Laxmibai’s character and have consulted historians and scholars. Rani Laxmibai was a freedom fighter and one of the most respected leaders our country has seen. She is a symbol of valour and the film’s story depicts the same.”
He continued, “The film doesn’t portray anything objectionable about Rani Laxmibai and nor has the film distorted the history in anyway. The film showcases Rani Laxmibai in a most respectful manner and is an inspirational story which every kid and every member of a family would love to see. We as country would be proud to showcase the bravery, courage and heroism of Rani Laxmibai to the world.”
The makers have said they are open to sharing the script with “authorised persons” who have any “doubts” about the movie, which is a tribute to Rani Laxmibai.
It must be noted that Karni Sena which spearheaded the protests against Padmavati, had supported Congress in Rajasthan bypolls and later celebrated their victory by bursting crackers.
