RSS activist shot in broad daylight at Kolkata’s ‘Mini Pakistan’

In yet an other incident or violence against those from the saffron camp, Bir Bahadur Singh, a RSS activist was shot in broad daylight in Kolkata’s notorious Metiabruz area. Singh was on his way to Tantia high school, where he works as a teacher, when the attack happened.

According to Singh and his associates, some local rowdies allegedly backed by ruling TMC had been behind him for quite sometime over various issues. Images shared by the twitter handle of West Bengal BJYM and other right wing activists, show Bir Bahadur Singh bleeding heavily from backside, where the bullet was fired. He has sustained fatal injuries and is currently under medical supervision.

Singh is well known for being a RSS activist and had actively participated in the election campaign for Narendra Modi.

Situated in Southern Kolkata, Metiabruz is a Muslim dominated locality notorious for being house to many criminals and anti-socials. TMC leader and current mayor of Kolkata city, Firhad Hakim had once famously reffered to Metiabruz as the “Mini Pakistan.” The remark had caused a major furore in West Bengal.

Earlier this year, another RSS activist Bandhu Prakash Pal along with his wife and eight year old son were brutally murdered in Murshidabad district of the state. The police however claimed that personal disputes were the reason for the crime.
