In a bid to make inroads into the Muslim community and create a greater cultural unity among the people across religions, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is reportedly all set to up its first madrasa in Uttarakhand. According to reports, the land for the institution has already been purchased and the work will begin soon.
This not just an one of project. But the the reports further suggest that RSS has a plan of establishing such madrasas across the country. These institutions, apart from Islamic religious education and modern education, the RSS madrasas are expected to impart a sense of nationalism in the students.
The madrasas will be run by Rashtriya Muslim Manch, the Muslim wing of the Hindu nationalist organisation. In the beginning, 50 Muslim girls will be given admission.
The Muslim community appears to be divided on the issue. While some welcome the move, others believe that it is an attempt to hurt the Islamic culture. They say the history of Sangh Parivar shows that if Sangh Parivar wants to establish madrasa it could only be to affect the culture of Muslims. It is feared that they will try to create differences between Muslims and scholars by establishing such madrasas.
