A very good news for all Indians came from the field of Badminton on this Independence Day. Saina Nehwal has defeated the local favorite Lindaweni Fanetri by 21-17, 21-17 in the semi-finals held in Jakarta, Indonesia and has reached her first ever World Badminton Championship final.

With this win, Saina Nehwal, who also has won an Olympics bronze medal, became the first ever Indian to have reached the final of Badminton World Championship.

This win of Saina Nehwal has ensured that this would be the fifth medal India will ever receive at the World Championships. P V Sindhu has won the bronze medal twice, once in 2013 and once in 2014. Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won a bronze medal each in 2011 World Badminton Championship.

In the World Badminton Championship finals, Saina will be facing the current defending champion Carolina Marin, who is from Spain. They have faced each other last in the final of the All England Badminton Championships earlier this year. Satyameva Jayate congratulates Saina on her achievement and hopes she will win the final too.
