Air Chief Marshall, BS Dhanoa has said that the Supreme Court delivered a fine judgement on the Rafale fighter jets deal. He further urged to not politicise the issue, citing that earlier during Bofors this had made the Armed forces suffer for long. “I am not going to comment on the judgment but the Supreme Court has given a very fine judgment. It has also said that this plane is badly needed,” he told reporters in Jodhpur.
The Air Chief Marshall said that there should be no doubts about the capabilities or efficiency of Rafale jets. Praising the Rafale jets, he called them to be a necessity for the Airforce. “We need it, given our strategic scenario”, he said. However denying to make any political comments, he said that it is not his place.
He said that while they were getting less jets than expected, they would use them properly. He said the Rafale was a highly capable jet which could equal four fighter jets. He said that far as preparedness was concerned the Air Force was always ready.
The comments came while the Air Chief Marshall was speaking at the sidelines of a joint excersice between Indian and Russian Airforces.
He watched Aviaindra 2018, a joint exercise by the Indian Air Force and the Russian Federation Aerospace Force (RFSAF) going on at the IAF station in Jodhpur from December 10 to 21. This edition of Aviaindra is meant to expose the two forces to a counter-terrorism scenario.
Air Chief Marshal B S Dhanoa also said the launch of satellite GSLV-7A would enhance the networking and communication capabilities of the Air Force. “We have several platforms (aircrafts) which have capabilities of communication through satellite. The communication to the platform (aircrafts) through the satellite will be made possible with this launch,” he told reporters here.
ISRO will launch the military satellite GSLV-7A at 4.10 pm from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
