SC/ST Act, reservation system to stay till BJP in power: Amit Shah

The BJP chief Amit Shah, while addressing a rally in Chhattisgarh, warned the masses saying the Congress would use elections as an opportunity to spread lies.

The BJP chief said, “BJP will win the Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh with a larger margin. We will win 65 seats in the 90-member Assembly. The Congress will be decimated.”

BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday said that the Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the reservation system in government jobs are here to stay till the BJP-led government is in power at the Centre. Amit Shah held a roadshow at Ambikpur in Chhattisgarh where he warned that Congress might spread “lies” about Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the run up to 2019 elections.

Shah’s roadshow is part of the ‘Vikas Yatra’ campaign by Chief Minister Raman Singh ahead of the state assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh by 2018-end. A huge gathering assembled in the streets of Ambikapur in Surguja district to see Shah.

“Congress chief Rahul Gandhi was asking what has the Modi government done in four years. Rahul baba, why are you asking for our account of four years? We do not need to give you any account. We will give an account of every minute and every paisa to people when we go to them seeking votes,” he said.

Stating that the country lagged in development for 55 years under the Congress rule, the BJP leader asked, “Your family governed the country for four generations and 55 years. Why has there not been any development?”

Shah attacked Rahul Gandhi on his foreign vists. “Raman Singh launched his ‘vikas yatra’ during soaring mercury. However, when summer comes Rahul Gandhi goes on a vacation to Europe… They cannot serve people,” he said.

While lauding the Centre over the 2016 surgical strikes, Shah said, “During the Congress rule, cross-border firing was happening every other day, but no befitting reply was given. Every other day they used to strike us. 12 of our jawans were killed in Uri (in a terror attack), they did not even get a chance to retaliate. However, soon after, Modiji sent our jawans for surgical strikes in Pakistan to take revenge.”

The BJP chief was addressing a public rally in Chhattisgarh, which goes to the polls by the year-end.
